5th Grade - Clay Container
Goal: I can create a clay container using at least 2 different clay techniques (slab, coil, pinch)
Since fifth grade is the end of the elementary experience, I allowed our oldest artists to create any type of container but they had to incorporate at least 2 different clay techniques. I reviewed the techniques and showed a few ideas but then they took the reigns and did great! After their pieces were fired in the kiln they had two options for color, they could use watercolor to achieve a very colorful piece or glaze so they could eat or drink from their pottery. They love an opportunity to just create and for it be with clay made it that much more exciting :)
