Georgia O'Keeffe Art
Goal: Show your understanding of space by creating a drawing of a flower that uses the entire space of your paper in the style of Georgia O'Keeffe
In this unit we focused on "draw what you see, not what you know". The artists looked at different flower arrangements and practiced slowing their hands and brains down as they let their eyes trace the simple shapes of each flower. We all have ideas in our brain about what flowers look like but that may not match the flower the artist is actually looking at; this is why we say "draw what you see, not what you know." After they completed two drawings they chose their best one to add color. Some used oil pastels and some used chalk pastels - a new art material for them! They did a beautiful job and REALLY enjoyed it! |
